I received this book as a freebie at RT15. I know Liliana Hart is a hugely popular author, but I didn't finish this book. It was fine and there were definitely some funny parts, but I got tired of hearing so much about the hotness of the heroine and the two heroes. About two thirds of the way through Whiskey for Breakfast and after reading endless passages about how Addison felt about her ex and how hot she found Savage (really? his name is Savage?), I got tired of the endless back and forth between the Addison and the two men. The mystery was interesting, but I'm not a fan of the "will they or won't they" trope. I'm happy with a slow burn romance, but "will they or won't they" always seems like a manipulative and cheap plot mechanism. Anyway, I checked the description of the next book and decided that finding out who did it wasn't worth finishing this one.

Meh....I thought they might get more interesting as the series continued but it's more of the same. A quick read that requires no brain power at all. I am getting a little tired of the pages and pages of angst over Addison's sex life, and now her mother's sex life is brought into the story. The "mystery" really takes a back seat to the sex, and again, the mystery is wrapped up almost as an afterthought at the end. The last part of the story was no surprise....you could see it coming. I also don't need the details of what sex position comes next. I've got 6 or 7 books in the series, and they take only a couple hours to read, and being social distancing at this time, I've got nothing better to do. But if I were more discerning, I probably wouldn't finish them.

Addison is a former high school history teacher who is now working part-time at her friend, Kate's detective agency. She is studying and training to become a full-time PI. Her cases include the search for a missing old woman (she has changed her name and moved into a different senior's home), a billionaire who is dying and wants to find his only heir (the product of a sperm donation in the 1940s) and a wife suspected of cheating. Because of a prior case, Addison is being threatened by a killer who won't hesitate to use his hatchet. Nick, the police officer Addison had been dating but who broke up with her because of her job, is hanging around her again. FBI Agent Savage is her neighbour and is pursuing her. While she is attracted to Savage, her heart still belongs to Nick. Addison has recently moved (she was living with her mom who had recently remarried) and is pressured into joining the neighbourhood watch, complete with teeshirts, theme songs and strange characters. Rosemarie, her friend and a teacher, has randy boyfriend. Phoebe, Addison's older sister, has recently moved home and is staying with her. This is the third book I've read by this author and I liked it. Though it is the third in the Addison Holmes series, it works as a stand alone. It was a light fun book to read. It is written in first person perspective from Addison's point of view. I liked the writing style ... it was amusing. As a head's up, there is swearing and adult activity. I look forward to reading the rest in this series in addition to other books by this author. Blog review post: http://www.teenaintoronto.com/2017/03...

There is just something so appealing about this series. Addison is a certified hotmess, but ya gotta love her. She falls int solving her cases despite her best efforts to mess things up. I have said in the past that I think Savage is a better match for her in the romance department, but Ms Hart is determined to have us think she should be with Nick. Maybe she is just the girl to get him to lighten up and challenge him. They do have chemistry that peels the wallpaper. The smexy stuff is mostly closed bedroom with hints of details here and there. Things get hot and bothered but never go to full on erotic details. Addison has a way of bringing out the beast in men who are interested in her. I have also noted she rarely gets it on in the bedroom, so many other parts of the house are more interesting! The narrative is still first person, Addison has a quirky POV that makes the series a laugh riot. I do not usually like this tense, but I have found it doesn't bother me as much in audio. Go figure. There are so many lively and dynamic supporting characters in the series. I love everybody and really they are the reason Addison survives all her mishaps! I might even have a book crush on dishy Savage! The mystery this time was a bit all over the place. I would have liked more clues to make it solvable. The end was a but Scooby Doo for me, the culprit came from left field. It was just all over the place and I had a little trouble keeping up with all the sub-plots. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Connie Ventress, who does a wonderful job as always. She has a wonderful Southern accent that makes the character come to life. Great pacing and a soothing tone. She is perfectly matched to the series and I love her energy. Definitely hope to hear more of her reads! Overall, this series is a guilty pleasure. It started out feeling very similar to another series but it is slowly becoming it's own animal. I am hooked and can't wait to see what happens next! Oh boy, that ending was a kicker!!

Another Holmes Hit for Hart!! I want MORE! I've just read the first three books in the Addison Holmes series in the last week! All I can say is I want more!! There is steamy romance, never ending interruptions (usually related to a dead body), and belly rolling laughter! If you need a pick-me up give this series a try, I think you will agree and LOVE it! And now a bit about the story... Addison Holmes is still an unemployed spy in training. She is working to get her PI license, but has to finish Another Holmes Hit for Hart!! I want MORE! And now a bit about the story... Addison Holmes is still an unemployed spy in training. She is working to get her PI license, but has to finish at the top of her class on the written test, firearms test, and physical fitness test. Right now she can't run a mile without puking on the neighbors lawn. Things aren't looking good... In steps agent Savage to help her get trained and just as she is getting the hang of it, her house is broken into and her head bashed into the wall, putting a slight damper on her training. Not that Nick minds, he still loves her and hates it when she spends any time with the hot FBI man. Only question is can he recover from leaving her in the hospital with a bullet wound??? And you'll never guess who is the bad guy this time - I was completely surprised - AGAIN!! Plus there is cliffhanger with the results of her test ... will she get positive score on all them? Are we sure she really wants to? Favorite passages: - My stealth abilities had improved by about a hundred and fifty percent since my first day on the job. Which wasn't saying much. It was the same thing as saying a kindergartner could finally use the paste without eating it. - I was almost positive that Savage would be miraculous in bed. Like an oversexed Captain Kirk, exploring uncharted territory. - "He was ugly as homemade sin but he was a good man. That counted for something back in those days you know. Now all women want are rippling muscles and monster schlongs. I read all about it in Cosmo. Those kind of men are good for an affair but not for the long haul." Great work Liliana!!! Can't wait for the next installment!

I definitely recommend these books and other books by this author, she will not disappoint!!

This story finds our heroine, Addison, a former school teacher, now apprentice to a PI trying to learn the ropes, sometimes succeeding but often getting caught in dangerous situations. We even learn she was shot in the leg in an earlier installment. Addison has only recently moved into a new neighborhood next store to one of the hunks—we can see where this might lead—and surrounded by some crazy neighbors, some of whom are carrying. These stories are set in Savannah and though there was a bit of description of the historic district, I would have liked a little more immersion in this very interesting city. All in all, a very enjoyable read, a little hot in places, a bit suspenseful at times and often funny.

There was too much plastic surgery getting in the way to make an accurate guess, and I was thinking we’d probably have to chop her in half and count her rings if we wanted to know her real age. On to the next!

I have a lot of feelings on this book/series. First, it bugs me that Addison’s background changes from book to book. In the first book of the series, she specifically mentions not being Catholic, in book two she mentions a lifetime of Catholic guilt, and in book three she’s not quite religious. Book one (and maybe two), she’s into yoga, then suddenly she hates yoga in the third book, etc. The editing leaves something to be desired, as well (should the Prologue really be word-for-word a chapter t I have a lot of feelings on this book/series. The plots are so superfluous to these books. Ha, guess you would never have thought I would say that, or read a book like this. But, it is summertime, and this is just fun, light stuff. Had a few LOL moments during this read, plus some good smiles. Hart has a down to earth style, and more horniness than the average author. Ha, I guess it doesn't make her a bad person. Nice mix of cop/mystery work. Silly fun... and did I mention sex ? Coffee and ice cream play an important part here too. This is out of order for the Addison Holmes series, cuz this is my first Liliana Hart read, but it won't be my last. Had a few LOL moments during this read, plus some good smiles. Things have improved for Addison this time around, she's got her own place, she's getting jobs to do, and while her mom has some new quirks she doesn't seem as focused on her anymore. The dynamics have changed between Addison and Savage but its a good change and things are even better for her and Nick. Can't wait to start the next book. This was the best book in the series so far. I was laughing so hard at times and finished the book in one go. The case about a black market sperm bank and the dying billionaire was very interesting and the senior home very entertaining. In addition we are introduced to new family members who were.. interesting. The end was surprising and left me in a funk so I immediately started the next one.

I found the heroine always letting us know how quirky she was, tiring after awhile. Yes you're quirky and rebellious, we get it. You're also the worst PI I've ever read about. Not keen on there being multiple "love" interests either. Too wordy for my liking and her thinking her neighbor "is so hot" took center stage over the mystery. Funny, easy read. I like the little bit of competition between Savage and Nick and that he was sort of thrown in for a bit as a possible love interest but that part of the story didn't go on for too long or get too complicated and ridiculous-which was nice. Awesome series Absolutely love these books. You will probably read reviews that say the characters are like Stephanie Plum. I don't agree. Yes, there are similarities but not enough to say it is the same. Love how Addison seems to find herself in some unusual predicaments. Great read.
