I found this free on amazon and as I have been interested in audiobooks for a long time it sounded interesting enough to download. I like this book. I can't say if the methods Hanley describes will work, not yet anyway, because I haven't tried them out. But I will try them. Thing is, they sound like they will work and as I listed to the sample from the audiobook here on goodreads, I think they will. The quality of the recording was okay. This is a book for those of us that want to record audiobooks on a tight budget. After reading this I think I have the information I need to begin. The writing style is okay, it has some humor, never feels dry, and it's good enough that I think I've got a pretty clear idea of how to begin recording audiobooks, and that is all I needed from this book.

Wow another great book on audio preproduction I can't believe I found another great book on how to do audio. He writes with a more droll style but he has exact steps on how to do audio ACX. He lists the standards. Great illustrations and screen shots for software. The list of references needs to be tacked beside every writer's desk. He gives practical albeit funny equipment tips. Reminds me of tool time. There are many books in the audio category but this is right up there with one of the best.

A great, step by step book for those using Audacity and for those who are just getting started. I especially found his instructions on the correct settings for recording and saving audio book files.

Informative and easy to read and understand This book gave me exactly what was needed and more. Even the technical information was simplified and easy to understand, coupled with his personal experience made this a good buy.

This was such a helpful book. As someone who is looking into learning more about the audiobook process, I come from a similar place as the author. I have recorded audio and performed before, but I've never needed to have a hand in the production process. Reading this book made me feel much more secure in the production process and helped fill in and update some of the rudimentary knowledge I already had. This was such a helpful book.
