I’ve been interested in this book for a long time. I’ve read other of Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s books and have been highly impressed with both her practical side as well as her standard of sticking to Scripture. This book was definitely no less. Nancy and Dannah gleaned from personal life examples, studies, and talking with teens across the country to compose many lies that girls tend to fall into. Lies such as: God isn’t really enough, what I do now doesn’t really matter (won’t affect my whole life) I’ve been interested in this book for a long time. Nancy and Dannah gleaned from personal life examples, studies, and talking with teens across the country to compose many lies that girls tend to fall into. Lies such as: God isn’t really enough, what I do now doesn’t really matter (won’t affect my whole life), sin is okay as long as I’m not caught, my life won’t be full until I have ________ (boyfriend, possessions, beauty, etc.), and the list goes on. Each of these lies is discussed in detail—but not too much detail as to swamp the reader or expose them to details of sin. The book is also formatted in a very cute and easy-to-read fashion. I found myself many times going, “I’ll just read one chapter today…” but it was so easy to finish that I read another, and then another. Now, I read this from the perspective of a young woman whose parents taught me the truth—many of the things discussed in this book were taught to me from childhood. In light of that, I agree with the truth that is presented here. I thought it was presented in a very loving fashion, yet they also didn’t sugar-coat the truth or tone-down sin. I really appreciate that. And I highly recommend this book for teen girls. At the same time, I definitely agree with Nancy and Dannah’s note in the beginning: moms and counselors read this and decide if it’s good for your daughter/study group. While it is written for young women and teens, there are some things that are discussed (still discreetly) that may be exposure to conservative teens. On the flip side, there are also some things discussed that might help the conservative teen to avoid some traps (because conservative or not, there are some struggles that all girls face; it doesn’t matter how “sheltered” we’ve been from the world). I was not disappointed in this book. The verses weren’t KJV like I prefer, but the truth is the truth. One could easily just use their own Bible if they have a preference of versions.

I found this book to be very condescending and sexist.

I thought that this book was amazing! It showed us lies that we may believe in ourselves and then knocks them down by saying what is actually true. An example they said that might apply to a lot of women is that when you feel uglt or fat. That is the lie that the satan can throw at us and we can believe it and act our lives on that lie. However, they told us that the truth is that "I am accepted in Christ(Ephesians 1:4-6)." I have learned so many things about myself because of this book. It tell I thought that this book was amazing! It tells in depth stories about women and their battle. It shows that I am not alone when facing satan's lies and that a lot ofwomen have trouble beliving the truth. This book was an easy read, but it challenged me to stop beliving in the lies and start believing in the truth. Overall, the book was awesome!

I'm reading this book for my Bible Study, and it has some good parts, but I actually don't like it at all. The authors didn't consider many aspects concerning personal aspects of the topics, and so far I've been very peeved with their insensitive logic. This book would have recieved 4 1/2 stars if not for Nancy's "women are for men. Period." I hate that. There is, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT, this truth in the bible, but our sole purpose in life(those of us that marry) is not to be a man's live-in-maid. Highly recommend for teens! My 13 year old & I got so much out of this book! We talked through each section. I wouldn't suggest handing this over without a plan to discuss. Great resource to take teen girls through. Several current issues/lies are addressed, with the encouragement to apply truth from God’s word to each one.

I read this book when I was like 13-14 and honestly only remember it reinforcing things that teachers in my church taught me at the time, which mainly centered around a shame mentality about God and more rules and legalism. If I read the book now, I might have a better grasp on good points the author made, but I really don’t think it helped me at the time.

This is a really, really good book. Mom has the Lies Women Believe and really liked it, so she got this for me. It targets lies that young women really DO belive. I actually let my friend borrow it because I like it so much!

This is an excellent book! It applies to girls anywhere from age 9 to 29! Even if you think you believe Truth, this is a great book to get you thinking about cases where you really aren't. A perfect study book to go with the book itself. Each week was four days long, and four days were divided up into sections, Read, Respond and Write it Out. In these pages, you can pour your heart out, cry, write, work something out all in pen or pencil. Write it Out is where you can write down your prayers to God. I enjoyed this study very much and gathered so much from it, I'll go back to it again and again in the future. A perfect study book to go with the book itself. I cannot say that I agreed with 100% of the principles of this book. But overall, I think there were some really good points and perspectives. This book is tailored to middle and high school aged young women, mostly, but had some good reminders in there for me as well. The authors walked through 24 different lies that young women often fall prey to, spanning lies about faith, sexuality, media, relationships, and more. Using biblical truths to combat these lies, they point readers back to God thr I cannot say that I agreed with 100% of the principles of this book. Again, this is not to say I agreed with every single approach to each lie, but overall I think it's a great start at evaluating what we let fill our minds and how to turn back to Jesus no matter what we are telling ourselves, or allowing the world to tell us.

GREAT book if you have daughters of you own, work with girls in ministry, are a girl, etc, etc, etc!! I love how for every lie that the enemy tries to get us to believe, there is an applicable truth(s) in the Bible to combat it. I think anyone in youth ministry should take a chance to read this. Even if not every chapter is applicable to the girls you know, there is so much to glean and I really think most of it is applicable at some point in most young girl's lives. Even though I haven't finshed readin this book. I love it because it tells the truth about the things your going through. I am also glad this book is for girls because most of us get tricked very easily and we are quick to believe things with out questioning it. This also tells you that it does not have the answer to everything and that it isn't going to give you some quick fix. Which I love that it says that because in order to fix the problems in our lives we have to devote some time to fix i Even though I haven't finshed readin this book. I must admit, this is the first Girl book that I've ever read...and I really enjoyed it! This is definitely my go-to resource for young women, as it covers a multitiude of lies that the majority of young women are believing. The book wasn't fluffy or all about feeling good, but it is very biblical and offers the right solution, God's Word. The emphasis of the book is that the lies can only be overcome by the truth of God's Word. Very good! I must admit, this is the first Girl book that I've ever read...and I really enjoyed it! This book is great for young women. It touches on modern issues that young women go through and problems that have always been an issue. It gives solutions and answers that are very helpful. This book is a book that you'll never read and then lose in a book pile somewhere, you'll want to refer too it all the time as do I. This book is great for young women. I enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read; more along the lines for a group Bible study that to be read alone. There were a lot of things for discussion which would have been more enjoyable if read with a group of young women. But there were many valuable truths in this book and it was good to be reminded of them.

This book touches on EVERY issue you could possibly want to bring up with your child. It was too mature for my daughter on many points because she is not yet a teenager. I read ahead and only choose the chapters that were important to us currently, we will use this book as a reference in the future.

Amazing Book. Recomended for EVERYONE. There are many lies we, young women tend to belive. But we have to realize that those lies are planted by Satan himself. I think this is really good on many of its topics, except for some unrealistic ideas that do not apply to every young woman's life and circumstance. Every young woman needs a guide like this one though. This book helps you see how the devil and yourself choose to deceive you. Your life will be better when you know which lies are making it worse.
