Her costume retains elements of her former, more impressive with the cowl and ears done Bat-ninja style. The other stories are setting the pieces for a major story arc, but the Cassandra Cain story alone is worth the price of admission.

Orphan might be my favorite character in the DC universe. Pumped for this next story arc.

You get deep into the minds of some of the new Bat Family and you find out Batman has brought them together to help fight a war.
Siona St Mark –
I liked the Orphan section the most, and the Azrael section the least. The last section was set before what happened with Tim Drake, and I like the implications it has for the rest of the series.
Jaclyn Hillis –
I really enjoyed the Orphan story.

James Tynion IV is very good at comics. That's it. That's the review. James Tynion IV is very good at comics. That's it. That's the review.

The Orphan storyline was okay, but I really enjoyed Higher Ground, and the small Batman cutaway vignette at the end has me hyped for future events.

Loved getting inside Orphans head in the first story. She is awesome.

I can understand celebrating the occasion of having 950 issues, but this felt overstuffed for what it had.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Perhaps necessarily a little scattered, but there's good stuff here. Really nice to dig into Orphan's backstory even if it does steal liberally from Black Widow's. The Azrael stuff is an interesting set up, but we haven't learned enough about the character in this book for it to have too much impact. The final section is the best part, though I suspect Tim misinterprets Batman's preparations. he could be preparing for his own death just as much as he could be preparing for a war. Though that would feel a little lazy to do again so soon considering Snyder killed Batman just a few years ago.

The meat of this multi-story oversized issue was all about CASSANDRA! Sorry, but she's my favorite of the Bat-family roster, so that was exciting. My LCS accidentally skipped this one in my pull box, so I'm late reading it. I LOVED IT, clearly. In fact, now that I've read 950, I need to edit my 951 review as something said in there is not accurate now that I've read this one. Cassandra Cain does not get enough attention. She's a fascinating character with so much potential that it surprises me she doesn't currently have a solo title. Thankfully, the first half of this issue gives readers a look into Cass's lonely present life. I just wanna hug the poor thing... The rest? There's a section about Azrael and Batwing, and lastly a part about Red Robin. The Red Robin stuff leads into the rest of the run, and the Azrael stuff is more side-story type stuff.
