I pre-ordered this book months ago. It exceeded my high expectations! So many great recipes, especially geared to families. There are so many recipes I plan to make that it's crazy! I also downloaded the Kindle version as I did with their first cookbook and their plan book. It's handy to have them on my phone when I'm away from home or shopping for groceries. I'm giving it five stars because I love it! It is wonderful to have so many more recipes to continue through this healthy journey. Trim Heal I pre-ordered this book months ago. Trim Healthy Mama has taught me tons about nutrition and how my body works. It has also helped me to regain health and lose weight. My doctor was blown away with my lab results this spring compared to last year before I began THM!!!!

The sisters did a great job of summarizing their plan much more succinctly than in their previous books. I was a little disappointed that they have incorporated more hard to procure ingredients in some of the recipes I wanted to try, but generally they try to accommodate readers who cannot afford or do not want to use unfamiliar ingredients. Now if I would just stick with the plan!

January 2020 I have marked my progress at page 17, but I have read more than that as I have had this book checked out from the library for months. I lost weight very easily on my first try with the eating program. Due to some travels in the summer of 2016, I got off plan. At first I seemed to be able to keep the weight off while going back to my old style of eating, but that was just a momentary illusion. In the end I gained it all back. Hopefully, I am convinced that eating what I want, when I want, only leads to a more rotund me. I have been seriously dedicated to following the plan since May of 2019, and, though the weight loss is slower, it is coming off and staying off as long as I stick to the THM guidelines. This food plan, in a nutshell, is: don't eat carbs and fats together, and always eat a protein with either your fat or your carb choice. Let your body burn one fuel at a time, which allows for efficient burning of calories and a faster metabolism. It has worked for thousands of people. The before and after pictures that are in the book and that can be found in many places on the internet are truly inspirational. I love the authors Pearl Barrett & Serene Allison. In addition to following their THM food plan, I love their exercise videos and their podcast. My goal is to update this review from time to time with my favorite recipes. Some of my favorites so far are from the Trimmy Bisque section. I love soups and these soups have stretched my cooking skills and given me new ways of incorporating healthy ingredients in my diet. So far my favorites of those are Sunny Southwestern Trimmy Bisque, Red Russion Borscht Trimmy Bisque, Rustic Andouille Sausage Trimmy Bisque, and Peasant's Garden Trimmy Bisque. I just picked up the ingredients for Peanut Satay Trimmy Bisque and can't wait to try this Thai-themed soup. Note: These soups all have collagen as an optional ingredient, but I always leave that out as I think it has caused me to have inflammation in the past.

This is my “go to” healthy eating cookbook that rarely makes it off my kitchen counter. Family favorites include “Reuben Bowl,” “Lazy Lasagna” and Egg roll in a Bowl” to name a few. I have liked and followed THM off and on for a couple of years. This review is for a recipe book not necessarily their plan. When cooking from their recipe books you have to half all of their family recipes as they make them for 6-8 people. I can do math not a problem but it's like they did that just to be different (bc they have big families) but it goes against my brain and ALL other cookbooks. And sometimes their RECIPES ARE MISSING STEPS. Such as- the Deconstructed Cabbage Roll recipe on pg I have liked and followed THM off and on for a couple of years. They tell you to cook your meat and set aside but don't tell you when to add it to your skillet. Good thing I'm not a beginner cook. I have found this in other recipes in their first cookbook too. I feel like if you're going to put out a nice good cookbook you you have someone EDIT IT properly. And such weird names for recipes my husband says they sound so unappealing.

Helpful NSI hints! Starting out in the Trim Healthy Mama (THM) eating lifestyle can seem overwhelming. First, there’s the nutritional education side with relearning what qualifies as fats, carbs, starchy- versus non-starchy veggies, etc... My personal favorite is the NSI (No Special Ingredients) note sharing ways to substitute more easily-accessible grocery store items, rather than THM-sold items.

I love this cookbook! It came across the library desk a couple weeks ago. The recipes looked so good that I was drawn in and became curious how this way of eating works. It is healthy and a diet that is doable. I never thought I would be able to give up chocolate (with sugar) or carbs. Although I will miss the white potato, I do not crave things as much as I thought I would and feel pretty satisfied on this eating plan. There are too many special ingredients in this book. I feel as though I wasted my money. I am using recipies from the first book and swapping out chicken for turkey, beef for pork, and so on.

Can't say I've "read" the *whole* thing--it's a huge recipe book-but I've tried a lot of recipes from it already, and I've been quite satisfied. Tried several drinks, chili recipes, and some of the casseroles and soups--all very good. I love and appreciate that they added more crock pot recipes, but also kind of frustrated that they've added a lot of ingredients that are really strange to me--either they are hard to find, or are expensive, or are not something I'm that interested in. Amazing! Quality and Quantity I follow the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan, and this is the best book the sisters (Pearl and Serene) have put out so far. I don't follow their plan, but am always looking for healthy, family friendly recipes so I checked this out. I have read their first book, so I am familiar with their regimen. There are a lot of recipes here, and a broad range of cooking methods, etc. I particularly liked the crockpot chapter and the Hangry for One, which had some great lunch ideas and you could easily double most of those recipes. These recipes feature a lot of specialty products. While they do include substitutes, it's a constant reminder to buy their stuff. The baking flour does seem like a practical buy, but otherwise, things like salt, you should be able to use your own. High quality salt is easy to find online almost anywhere. Also, the plan doesn't include nutritional information. Obviously, most of the recipes are pretty healthy. But for people watching their salt, certain kinds of fats or sugars, that information would be useful. Just because they don't count calories doesn't mean others don't. This is worth checking out if you're looking for healthier, family friendly options. There's a lot of recipes here, so you're bound to find something you like, even if you don't follow their plan.

Five stars because it’s a cookbook, and it’s actually readable. The author’s are likable dorks who have created a brilliant eating plan that has taken my problematic triglycerides from 172 to 115. And I’ve lost weight easily along the way. Their recipes range from easy peasy to seriously involved. I like that, too. I read their main book, and I really respect the science behind their plan. It works for me!

Beginning is a small overview of what I already read in the plan book but still a good one to help me solidify what I learned. All the recipes in this book look amazing. A bit scary at times for a non-cook like me, but there was still a lot that seemed like I could handle it. I definitely need to buy this and not just borrow from library!

A plan for American eaters and cooks. Complicated system of configuring your intake of protein/fats/carbs. Overly complicated--food should be joyful not organized by system of letters.
