Not Kindle Unlimited, seems to maybe be one of the permafree ones possibly. Was supposed to have gotten a copy from the writer through Author XP but that was a while back and never heard anything so looked the book up on amazon in case it was on kindle unlimited {which I have} but turned out it was free, permafree, or whatever, so since it wasn't a case of a free from writer book wanted to still mention the background just in case because of the TOS, even though really wasn't a review type book Not Kindle Unlimited, seems to maybe be one of the permafree ones possibly. Was supposed to have gotten a copy from the writer through Author XP but that was a while back and never heard anything so looked the book up on amazon in case it was on kindle unlimited {which I have} but turned out it was free, permafree, or whatever, so since it wasn't a case of a free from writer book wanted to still mention the background just in case because of the TOS, even though really wasn't a review type book in the end. The reason it didn't get a 1 is because I know a LOT about the different sites and such that were mentioned, but there were a couple or so that were new to even me. The reasonS it didn't get more than a 2 is because of the many issues following. BookBub is just that, not Book Bub. There were some links, but not all were done that way, but most particulary noticed several times when sites related to that particular book were particularly mentioned {again several times}. As for various parts of information, saying that BookBub has books in a bunch of formats is true, BUT what it failed to mention is that kindle/mobi is the same thing {and that was listed as if it were 2 different formats}, and didn't detail out that epub and so on is different non-Amazon sites. Google Play Books in July 2013 supported a lot of formats BUT now only PDF and EPUB {and they have some kind protection on them as downloading them is only available through them as it does not otherwise actually load the 'book' file any other way}, Barnes and Noble/Nook uses Epub, and various books in general use the anti-pirating DRM and other like type protection/coding software. You have to know the site/format and pick that one to get the correct ebook for youself. There are sites such as Instafreebie that allow the user to choose format option, as does Book Funnel and some others. The part about BookBub also fails to mention that the categories for 'romance' seem to be about 1/3 the books these days, and even if another word is first {example paranormal romance} it STILL will be primarily romance anyway which is rather bogus. I find the here and there listing for specific writers more than a bit 'dodgy'/questionable, as a lot of writers have freebie days, email signup freebies, and so on, not just a small handful or less out of the thousands. Why would another person/site be called Kindle Buddy when Google Play Books is not kindle, it's pdf and epub AND the reader/computer has to have Adobe Digital Edition. The Shot Kit site that the book links to does not say which or how many formats the books are available in, AND it also requires you give your email address. The part about Book Yards fails to take in to account that even if the pdf format means no ereader needed, on most chromebooks that format is an issue, as it doesn't display correctly in several ways. Just like with Bookbub, Freebooksy is spelled the way I have it, not the way the book writes it out, making me wonder with so many mistakes if the writer has actually been to or used the sites that the book is talking about, not only because of the somewhat wrong names but also because no, one does not have to sign up but instead can just go to the site everyday {later in the day, as they don't tend to update early} so use bookmark or something such as FVD Speed Dial{s} as I do. That way, you get to decide that each day which genre{s} and which book{s} you want to look at, and mine automatically go to amazon so are in mobi {because I click on amazon link, not any of the others, of which there are usually a few choices so know your format/site for books}. As for Google Play, as this book called it, that's wrong; it's Google Play Books, which is highly important to know because there is Google, Google Play Books, Google Play, Google Play Games, etcetera, and yes some of these overlap but one is not the exact same as the others. Non free books on google books is NOT an 'odd' or rare occurence, so no idea why the book acts as if it was, and repeat those books are protected, need Adobe Digital software {so limits some reading devices}, and is usually only available in epub and pdf WITH supported readers/formats. In the end, this was bascially a book about free books {sort of but not all} and an on and off promo for this book's site. If I hadn't seen a little 'new' to me at least information, would have dropped the rating to a 1 for being the book version of an infomercial.

This is an excellent compilation of sites informing you of where you can get free ebooks (and some bargain ones). Each site is extensively reviewed, this is a great help in deciding if you wish to visit that particular website and where you can find books that interest you. My only niggle is that I would have liked to have seen all the site names in alphabetical order to make it easier to look back over the reviews of the sites, but now I really am just being petty. There are so many sites I have never heard of and it will take me a while to visit them all and I know I am going to have a very full Kindle by the time I have reached the final one. I highly recommend this book to any reading fan as it is an excellent resource for finding free books hiding on the web.o I received an ARC copy of this book and voluntarily posted this review

Great resource Well panned out, makes a long list of free book websites into a directory of clickable resources for the reader to follow if after reading the short bio of its links title than if you so desire click and follow the link to the free ebook website. Many sites I've heard before and some newly discovered included as well. Worth checking out. Just what the title says: a source book for (mostly) free books available online. Must admit I skim read it: it is not an enthralling read; but it IS an excellent directory. I received a free copy but this is a voluntary review.
