I normally don't read this genre of books, but had nothing else so I borrowed one of these books from a friend. Next thing I knew, I had stayed up most of the night enthralled in the book. When I finished reading I went and bought the rest of them lol. Great books that keep you on the edge of your seat until you finish the last page. For ages I had been looking for a good detective series, as most I had read I found to be quite tedious and dull and lacking interesting characters and twists. I also wanted to find a book or series that had a female heroine and I did - four of them! Four very real and affable women who work for the law in some way and kick butt doing so. From book 1 I was hooked and just devoured each and every page. I've laughed, cried and sometimes screamed at the contents of these books. Detective Lindsay Boxer is an unstoppable force yet also manages to be unfailingly compassionate. I was a Nancy Drew fan throughout my childhood (and still am) and now I'm a fan of Lindsay Boxer and the rest of the woman's murder club.

During this pandemic, I've been sucking down books like they help me breathe or something. Maybe they do. I found this series, and I am very pleasantly surprised at how engaging they are, and what good mysteries they are. Sometimes I want to wring the neck of the protagonist because she takes stupid risks, but I guess that's what makes these a good read, right? I've read 1 and 2 and just borrowed 3 from my library's ebook collection. During this pandemic, I've been sucking down books like they help me breathe or something. Maybe they do. Women's murder club series is one of my favorite of James Patterson. I do advise to start with the 1st one, 1st to Die, then Second Chance, Third degree and keep moving on... This way you get to know the characters and what happens from the beginning.... Happy reading... Well worth the read. Women's murder club series is one of my favorite of James Patterson. I give four stars mainly for the first half of this set before JP started getting other authors to write the series for him. I think the individual storylines of each book, the suspense JP builds for the reader and the fleshing out of characters in the Murder club group through the first five novels were brilliant and absolutely gripping. I really related to the girls getting together and longed for a club to belong to myself. After that however it's starts going ever so slightly downhill to the point where I have stopped reading them, I think at number twelve. I couldn't remember any of the reasons why I enjoyed reading the series and the characters I knew were starting to exhibit uncharacteristic behaviour- at that point I was out. Overall a good read though and I would still go back and revisit the first set of books again.

This series didn't disappoint. This series has it all Mystery, crime and a female lead better than even the one in J.D. Robb's futuristic crime solving novels. I wish Patterson was still writing more books in this series. This series didn't disappoint. This series has it all Mystery, crime and a female lead better than even the one in J.D.
