Sexual Content- In Mary, Mother of Jesus’ page, it says that Mary and Joseph made a promise to each other that they wouldn’t have a baby until after they were married & that until then they would live like brother and sister (it’s also said that God’s Spirit mysteriously put the baby inside Mary); A couple mentions of arranged marriages; *Note: A few of the illustrations have low-cut dresses, but nothing is accentuated; A mention of that men in the Bible often had more than one wife. I am so thrilled that Shiloh Kidz/Barbour Publishing has created a better book with the stories of Biblical women, martyrs, and women still live today who are living for Jesus. [Please note the cover and title on this book reviewed and please do not get it confused with the secular one that does not have BFCG’s approval.] Even though I am personally above the target age of middle grade readers for this book, I found myself taking the time to read the page about each woman and then look up more about her if I wasn’t familiar already. I do wish that Katie Davis-Majors was in this book, but other than that, there were many great women mentioned. This book is a fantastic alternative to another book in the secular market and I definitely would recommend mother and grandmothers entertaining the thought of getting this book of their girls over age ten. Parents please note: *This book does have stories of martyrs in it, and while it never is detailed in how it happens, there might should be caution for reading it at night to young girls with overactive imagination in case of nightmares. Instead, choosing a different woman’s story to read at night or reading the martyrs’ stories during the day and discussing it might be an idea. *There is some assuming on the Biblical women (like with Lois one is only mentioned once in the Bible) in this book. Homeschool parents could expand on the overall story or add about these women to their curriculum when studying the chapters of the Bible the women are mentioned in. *In Rosa Parks' section, a faith is not mentioned but it is ended with, “God created us to be equal. We are all the same in His sight, and that is how He wants us to treat each other.” *There is a total of three women in this book who are said to have preached and/or are called female pastors/preachers. Link to review: https://booksforchristiangirls.blogsp... *BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author. *I received this book for free from the Publisher (Shiloh Kidz) for this honest review.

This book is a treasure! I love the high quality binding with ribbon bookmark, the thick pages, and the beautiful illustrations. I loved the apt inspirational Bible quotes for each woman that encourages and further helps apply the scriptures to the reader. There is a table on contents at the beginning, making it easy to find a particular person since they are presented in no particular type of order. I believe this would make a lovely gift for a young woman from ages 8 to 18. Highly recommend! (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

This is a book geared towards young girls. It talks briefly about 100 different women from many different times who made a difference in the world and lived for God. I think this would be a great book that young girls would enjoy. There were a few parts I didn’t necessarily agree with but overall it was a nice book for young girls.

This was the most wonderful book of stories for young girls! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Each contribution consists of one page, with a drawing of the woman whose story it is. There is also a shared scripture for each. These stories are stories from women and girls of the Bible and from the entire world: Jane Austen, Harriett Tubman, Elizabeth Elliott, to name a few. Very encouraging stories for young girls in the world today, stories that will help them grow in their own walk with Christ. I loved This was the most wonderful book of stories for young girls! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is the same concept as Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, but including only people with Christian faith. The concept was exactly the same. It was not a bad book to read, and the illustrations were good, but it felt too much like a copy of a concept already done - no original work put into it (even the structure of the book was the same as in Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls).

I love that the author has put together such a strong collection stories about women of faith who have changed our world for the better for young girls (or boys). I really enjoyed this sweet little collection, and think it is a great gift for a young girl. The featured Women of faith run the gamut, from Clara Barton to Naomi; Corrie Ten Boom to Jane Austen. I would have liked if more of the featured women had been secular, because it’s easier for young girls to relate to Rosa Parks than to a woman in the Bible whose name & history we don’t even know. Nevertheless, the positive message is there and in an easy to read format with beautiful illustrations. I I really enjoyed this sweet little collection, and think it is a great gift for a young girl. This book gives a short glimpse into the lives of 100 women of faith. The book includes stories of women from the Bible; missionaries; and ladies who have had an impact on the church and society through their good works and testimony. The author includes stories about ladies from all historical time periods through our present day, and they are from all walks of life. There were a couple of ladies I’d never read about and I am interested to learn more of their stories after reading about them in this book. And that, I think, is one of the best uses of this book. It would be a great way to introduce women of faith and honorable character to a young girl, and follow up by reading a full biography of their lives. There’s a Bible verse at the end of each story to help highlight a character quality from each lady’s life. Some things to be aware of: There are several women included in this book that meet a martyr’s death because of their stand for Jesus. The author makes it plain that this is what happened to them as their story is read. If you have a child that might be especially sensitive to that, you’ll want to take a look at this book before you give it to them to read. Also, there are two or three ladies with the designation of “Saint” before their name. Just something to know if that’s offensive to you. This is a hardback book with an attractive cover. The artwork is nicely done. Overall, I think the author fulfilled the purpose of this book. Each lady’s story showed courage and faith. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This includes some women who were not necessarily praiseworthy but who nevertheless provide valuable lessons through their actions. One page is dedicated to each of the one hundred women portrayed alphabetically, alongside which is an illustration of them, and this setup is very advantageous for being brief and for possibly reading this in a devotional style, focusing on one woman per day. The women include Biblical characters as well as historical figures and a few contemporary ones. The Biblical women’s stories include the relevant Scriptures, and all of the stories end with a moral message related to the Bible along with a Scripture quotation. Not all of the stories have happy endings; some of the women were martyred for their faith, and although the author mentions that some were tortured, there are no graphic details. When mature words were used, such as “martyr” or “heresy”, a definition was given, and all of the Scripture references were quoted in easy-to-understand language. This is a beautiful collection of the lives of inspirational women of faith, some of whom have otherwise been lost to the annals of history, and a wonderful book for tweens and young teens. The short, one page biographies about these 100 girls or women spans the centuries. Published by a Christian publishing group, Barbour, would have expectations that these would all be Biblical characters. Not so. This book draws from girls and women of faith throughout history - Biblical and secular. The connection is their faith. They are courageous in the face of what their experience presents to them and their life is one of faith. Faith in a God that is there for them in life's circumstances. Since the stories are all short, these will not bore the young reader as a much longer biographic book or essay might. And yet, the stories give a glimpse into the life of individuals that the young reader might wish to learn more about and thus pursue further reading. The writing is very good and the illustrations quite colorful and appropriate to the time period in which the ladies lived. I highly recommend this for libraries and homes where girls are growing up. Each person mentioned has been given two pages. One page is devoted to her life story and one page is a color illustration. I believe these creative, colorful images will be especially appealing to young readers and I also think that the one page biography is just enough information to either satisfy the reader's curiosity or to prompt them to want to learn more. It is also helpful that references to the actual Bible stories are given and that there is an appropriate Bible verse at the end of each of the stories. This book targets girls ages 8-12 but I myself enjoyed learning more about these women of faith who chose to love and serve God. This is a beautiful hard-cover book that will be a perfect gift for the young girls in your life! Even though this is targeted for girls, I enjoyed reading this immensely and am loving sharing it with my three daughters. Everyone needs this encouragement and inspiration!! An amazing collection and a beautiful gift for giving, too. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls: Unforgettable Tales of Women of Faith is a great read for young girls. It is easy to read with a quick and short biography or each woman of faith. These women include ones that lived throughout history from the Biblical times to current living. I think many young girls would be inspired by reading their stories. I cannot wait to gift my copy to a special young lady for Christmas. 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls by Jean Fischer is a delightful book for all ages. I enjoyed reading the stories of girls and women of the Bible, along with those who lived years after Bible times. They came from all walks of life, poor and rich, single and married, very young and older, healthy and sickly. I was amazed at the faith and courage of these women, with a willingness to follow their heart and the Lord, no matter the danger involved to them. Some died a martyr’s death, and some died a natural death. Each story ended with a challenge to examine my life and attitude, also a Bible verse to encourage. There were many that I did not know, so it was a learning experience for me. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Jean Fischer has written a wonderful book for your tween entitled "100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls: Unforgettable Tales of Women of Faith." The title sums up what the book is about. There is a short biography of each of the 100 women from over the centuries whose faith helped them. (I found the stories interesting as an adult!) A question related to the biography is then asked for the young reader to consider. Lastly, a Bible verse is included after each biography. What a beautiful book with its glossy pages and wonderful illustrations. Would make a wonderful gift for the extraordinary young lady in your life. I plan on gifting my copy to my granddaughter. I enjoyed reading one page stories about Biblical and Historical women whose faith made a lasting example for how we should live our lives. It is encouraging to see strong women who stand on faith to make a difference in the world. Recommended for young ladies ages eight and over. This book is geared towards girls 8 and up. I am 65 and I loved it! I learned about women that I have never heard of before. I also learned facts about women that I didn't know before. I learned that Jane Austen is buried at a famous church, not because she was an important author, but because she was well known for serving God. I also learned about Mary McLeod Bethune, The First Lady of the Struggle. President Franklin D. I also learned about Mary McLeod Bethune, The First Lady of the Struggle. President Franklin D. Roosevelt chose her as his adviser to help bring all Americans together as equals, whatever the color of their skin. Mary became known as a great leader. In my mind I can picture these 100 women's names listed in the faith chapter of Hebrews in the Bible. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I kept thinking of all the young girls I want to share it with. It is such an encouraging book about the courage it takes to be a world changer. Each biography is one page in length with an illustration of that woman next to her story. There is a scripture for each of their faith's journey. These stories will help teach girls what it means to walk with Christ. I loved reading each story and I highly recommend this book. This book is gorgeous. The illustrations are very attractive and well done. Even better though is the content! My 3 girls (5, 7 and 9) love this book. They love to see all the things women have done. It’s encouraging and inspiring. The range of women included is amazing. There are women who are still alive as well as ancient women who lived 2 thousand years ago. The descriptions are easy enough for my 9 year old to read. Some even my 7 year old can read alone. Wonderful book I really like this book. It's perfect for introducing some great women from the Bible and history to the young women of this time. I intend to gift this to my granddaughter for Christmas. 100 one-page stories, giving a short history of each lady. Easy reading and easy to understand. I highly recommend this book to all. “I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.” Wonderful book I really like this book. I don't think I can say enough great things about this book! Geared toward young girls ages 8 and up but encouraging for older women like me. One hundred women are featured from the Bible, history, and to present day. I recognized many but also learned about women I had never heard about. Each is a one page biography along with a drawing of the person and scripture at the bottom relating to their story and also to inspire those reading. 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls is a book I got thinking my daughter would love it. However, I’m pleasantly surprised to see how much enjoyment I’m receiving from it as well. It’s a great book that tells about various women in the Bible and in history and the extraordinary things they did. There is an accompanying Bible verse on each page, along with a picture and a short summary. The summary only is one page so it’s easy to read, fast and can be read one per day or all at once. This is a wonderful little book for young girls. I think girls (and even some boys) aged 7-14 would enjoy this book. The illustrations of the women in the stories were interesting. Some I liked better than others. They were drawn by several different artists, and it was intriguing to see how they pictured the story subject. The book is hardbound with thick pages that should stand up to a lot of use.
