I have recently become addicted to mystery/thriller novels after discovering The Jesse Stone novels by Robert B. Parker (I know, I'm late to the game). I work up to 80 hours a week at a high stress job and I need enjoyable, fast-paced stories to read on breaks that will let my brain escape from my reality - and the absolute deal breaker has to be I become invested in the characters. I work up to 80 hours a week at a high stress job and I need enjoyable, fast-paced stories to read on breaks that will let my brain escape from my reality - and the absolute deal breaker has to be I become invested in the characters. The David Wolf books popped up as a suggestion on my facebook feed because of the mysterious algorithms and black magic that is facebook and for once I am so glad it spies on my other apps. I read the first few chapters of Foreign Deceipt on a break, went home a few hours later and finished the rest of the book. I've been working my way through the subsequent books for the past few weeks and I am thoroughly engaged with the story lines and the characters. From Italy back to Colorado, up in the mountains and down into the sheriff's office, following David and his deputies/team members through the arc of the various crimes is great entertainment. I love the dynamics of his relationships with co-workers, family members, and other denizens of Rocky Point. There are a few characters that I wouldn't mind slapping, and a couple I would like to adopt, but all generate real feelings and a lasting impression. Not all the stories are mysteries, some you know who the villain is from the outset, but they are all thrillers - who's going to get there first, who's going to survive, what the hell were they thinking (stopping for breakfast before you go to the storage facility that is supposed to have evidence to clear your name in a double murder? Seriously?) I absolutely recommend these books. I've read through #7 so far, just started on #8 this morning. I might be a little bit devastated when I get to the final one, so I'm not looking ahead to see how many I have left. There are more books to enjoy and that's all I need to know for now. Other series I would put in this category besides Jesse Stone, are the Detective Byron novels by Bruce Robert Coffin (these have the bonus points for taking place in the city where I live), and the Sydney Rose Parnell mysteries by Barbara Nickless, another Colorado police mystery series.

Gripping Series Very likeable and well-developed characters, plenty of action, great plots, and intelligently written. Jeff Carson does an excellent job of describing the breathtaking beauty and diversity of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. His plots are believable and mysterious enough to keep you guessing which of the several villains in each story is the ultimate, most guilty bad guy. I hope there are more volumes in this series, because each one so far has been a winner!

Duty and Commitment Thank you for these three exciting stories of murder and mayhem. The storylines were fantastic, somewhat gory, but interesting. The different characters and the murderers were really challenging and sometimes had me fooled. All in all, I enjoyed reading your stories.

Another great read in the Rockies! A solid 5 stars for this one, the 7th in the series. Every book as good as the last one. Id love to see a movie, with sequels, but only if they stay true to the characters and scenery. Getting ready to settle into the 8th book, Dire. What a great series!

Wolf Mysteries David Wolf is a Sheriff in a small Colorado community. A small community that seems to have a lot of serious crime. The books are well written with fully developed characters. The stories are believable and hard to put down. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I hated to read the last book because I knew I was on the last book! I absolutely loved this series. It kept me on my toes - always the unexpected in these books and so realastic! I used to live in Colorado and many of the places talked about in the book I was familiar with. I hope Jeff Carson is not done. It was such a letdown to start reading other books again.

Great characters and storylines I’ve read several books in this series and really enjoyed them. The characters are interesting and the storylines varied. I would probably give this set 4 1/2 stars, just because the last book wasn’t as good as the other two; but all in all still readable.

Three books in one! David Wolf in Colorado works out a trio of crimes. From a Colorado lake, eight dismembered bodies are pulled from the depths, accumulated over several years. Who are they, and how did they get there?Bones from a dinosaur for sale, a seller, a buyer and the dead broker lead Wolf to a multiple murder scheme, and a reunion with his son.

Pretty good. I can’t say it was great because it was a little too violent for me but it was good enough I just skimmed through those parts and kept on reading. The rest of the book was excellent. And I wound up spending more time reading than I should have. I would recommend this whole series so far as I’ve read.

The Western Hero The Dave Wolf stories are a great read. Sheriff and ultimately Detective Wolf is the true western Hero. He’s a bit of a loner who does not quit until the bad guy is brought to justice. He loves his family but gets caught up in his work. The stories are well written, full of action and vivid images. It would make a great television series.

Great read!! I’ve now read the first 7 books in this series and I’m totally enjoying them! There’s suspense, mystery, a little romance and a lot of just plain life situations! Very excited to start the #8!!!

Plot line carries thru several books Though each book can be standalone, you almost have to read them in order. The main plot lines are carried from book 1 onward to at least book 8.

Very enjoyable Rated 4 because it's not quite a 5, hard to follow in places, some confusing with so many characters. I enjoyed the first 7 books because I like the genre, stories kept my attention, liked the Wolf character. Now a detective Good series that drags a little at times...probably because of details. But as a whole, the characters are well written and figuring out "who dunnit" is an interesting challenge. A really good story with lots of action. This is an exciting David Wolf tale with Jeff Carson usual talent for creating interesting, well developed characters and plausible hair raising plot. I found this a very satisfying read.

What can I say but what an enthralling, exciting, captivating read! Kept me up all night. It’s the type of mystery thriller that you can’t wait to find out what will happen next! Kudos to Jeff Carson. This series is excellent!

Nice I would have rewarded this book higher on the star rating but just cannot! Mr Carson decided to ruin my reading experience by using the Lords name in vain.

Meh I keep reading the series and hoping that I can learn to like the writing style but I can't. Is this a young adult series or something? Very surface level characters and plots.
