This message is for the author. I appreciate that you can churn out books so rapidly but to my way of thinking maybe you should slow down and concentrate on your editing. The mistakes are numerous and annoying.

I really enjoyed this series and would like to read the next one in line if I could figure out which one it is. Funny, adventurous, quilt unbelievable, yet... still calling my name.

I cannot think of a kind word to say about the main character; I did try to like her, but no go. The plot is farfetched and unamusing. I would rather have the story from the butler's point of view. I cannot think of a kind word to say about the main character; I did try to like her, but no go. The plot is farfetched and unamusing. I read these book as I had read other books by Steve Higgs and found them engaging and amusing. In this series of books he has managed to create a central character who is an older female. The situation that has her ending up on board a luxury is incredibly contrived but somehow manages to be believable relatable and extremely funny. Patricia Fisher, the central character is a sympathetic character, constantly pointing out to herself, and the reader, she has no idea what she is doing. Patricia Fisher, the central character is a sympathetic character, constantly pointing out to herself, and the reader, she has no idea what she is doing. She is assisted by Jermaine, her butler from her suite, who also happens to be gay (but one who shows he knows how to fight) and Barbie, her assumed 'dumb blonde' fitness instructor. The growing relationship between them is as entertaining as it is heartwarming. Each book (there are 10 in all) is a complete stand alone mystery in its own right but all feature the backdrop of world cruise. I read them back to back despite which I did not find that I was bored by the characters or that I needed a break. Overall and individually they are a very entertaining light read.

Too much fun! Join the recently divorced amateur sleuth who managed to acquire a year-long cruise of the world after solving a very important mystery as she has one adventurous sleuthing per book. Quite a humorous series. I loved Patricia and all her friends in every book. Just starting the second series about her life as a PI. I couldn't put it down until I finished all 10 books. Only made it through 2 1/2 of these. Probably the worst written book(s) I have ever read. The author should have done some research into how cruises work before writing a series about a lady on a cruise for a year!

Kindle book - there are several "novellas" in this book. Even though this series has a high rating, I found them kind of boring and silly. The first one was kind of cute, but the next 2 or 3 were a big let down--I didn't finish the series. Kindle book - there are several "novellas" in this book. I finished this book 10 days ago and started the second 10-book set immediately after I finished. Usually, I will write my reviews the same day, but I wanted to give this book and author the Indepth description that they deserve. The first VERY important thing to note is that yes, I purchased this as the 10-book set, NOT as individual books. There are 10 total books in this set, and I will be giving a review over all of them as a whole, not individually with each book. Books 1-5 To start, this se I finished this book 10 days ago and started the second 10-book set immediately after I finished. Books 1-5 To start, this series is a collection of (pretty short) novels revolving around a cruise ship and its crazy mysteries. The protagonist, Patricia Fisher, discovers her husband of decades has been cheating on her with her best friend. After that, she decides to do something for herself that she had always wanted to do: Go on a cruise around the world. Patricia gets into all sorts of shenanigans from getting her tickets squared away for the cruise, to her first steps on board. She is a feisty middle-aged woman experiencing her personal coming-of-age moments in these whirlwind novels. There are a lot of lighthearted moments as she gets to know the crew of the ship and make friends on board, but there are also quite a few... crazier moments like when she is suspected of murder on board the ship and is confined to her cabins temporarily. There are definitely some things that need to be adjusted in the editing period - there were a lot of typos and grammatical errors in this one, but they didn't cause me to lose my place in the story when I stumbled across them. Another interesting tidbit is that the reader will completely understand that Patricia Fisher is NOT a private investigator on this cruise ship - she makes it blatantly clear at all times that she has absolutely no idea what she is doing. At some points the amount of luck that Patricia and her friends experience seems a little TOO much luck, but Steve Higgs is able to balance it out later in the story if you can keep reading. Books 6-10 There were definitely a few more errors than previously found in the first 5 books, but I am reading on the Kindle Edition of the books so the editing may be different. At this stage of the stories Patricia has made some longer standing friends on the ship - other than her butler and fitness trainer of course! The characterization of two older gentleman, retired police, seemed a bit redundant but was still eagerly entertaining. I did cringe a bit while Patricia and all of her friends were riding in a taxi, and someone passed gas. This continues to be a theme throughout the rest of their time with Patricia, and it does get a little old. In one of the books, there is an infectious disease that has broken out aboard the ship. This book was definitely written during the covid pandemic, and I get it! It was a great idea to execute, especially with everything going on in the world today. BUT. I was derailed a bit when Patricia was able to walk in and out of the sick bay of the ship so easily, and without a majority of the proper equipment. That's not related to my views of current events, but more so related to my knowledge of medical protocol - which means that the little detail of that really pulled me out of the story for a few minutes when I didn't expect to be. Closer to the end of the series, things return to the attitude of the first 5 books, a little more lighthearted and jovial than a few of the books in-between - but all together one of the best series I have read in 2022 so far! As I said in the beginning, I have already started the second book series regarding Patricia Fisher - and I am waiting a couple more days to write the review so that I can give it my best go. If you are on the fence? Just read it. I really think that most people would enjoy this series as much as I did!

This is a series of short novels that are humorous cozy cruise ship mysteries. I loved the way Mrs Fisher got on board and then got tangled up in her first mystery. She’s a courageous middle-aged woman coming of age. These are light and fun farces, with good tweaks to the plot along the way. Mostly Delightful. Book6-7 we’re the low spot for me. I was tired of Mrs Fisher saying she almost peed a little all the time and the old guys passing gas. Both funny the first time, but overused. I was tired of Mrs Fisher saying she almost peed a little all the time and the old guys passing gas. Both funny the first time, but overused. In book 5, the author uses a doctor character to insert a political statement against masks, claiming “masks are useless.” The author is entitled to his opinion, but when it yanks the reader out of the story and into current events it’s a fail. For the record, surgical masks work for what they are designed to do: protect people with weak or compromised immune systems from YOUR germs. Medical personnel in operating theaters, intensive care units and new-natal nurseries wear them all the time. They do not protect the wearer from other people. You need an N95 or a respirator (properly fitted and correctly worn) to do that. Back to the book. The main problem with the Ebola scenario was that the reader was supposed to be concerned for Jermaine and the captain, yet Mrs Fisher could waltz in and out of the quarantine area wearing a respirator and the attitude of “I’ve already been exposed so I don’t need protective gear like gloves or gowns and I don’t have to worry about spreading it around the ship to my other friends.” If the main character doesn’t react to a deadly virus like it’s a deadly virus, then the reader doesn’t either. Thankfully, books 8-10 were more like the earlier books and I enjoyed the stories and Mrs Fisher’s return to England. One last comment on book 6. Perhaps Mr Higgs should check his female facts. “I found an underwire bra which was a relief to put on” said no woman ever.

I picked up this series via Prime Reading. I wanted to like it. It really needs better editing. The plot was pretty good and made me want to get to the end of the first book, even if some of the situations were rather far-fetched. Some of the editing issues I became frustrated with are: -A "suspect" was described early on as in his 30s. Then a couple of chapters later, he is described again as in his 50s. -The book is written in first person and some of the narrative "interruptions" happen when a I picked up this series via Prime Reading. I'm no expert, but I can't recall reading a paragraph of dialogue and having the narrative not relate to the character who is speaking. -At one point the characters are reading a news article about a heist and it said the man's "fingers were found at the scene." That threw me and totally took me out of the story. I'm thinking that it should have been "fingerprints." However reading on, I found out that the man's actual fingers were found. It would have made more sense to describe it as "severed fingers." -An American character used the phrase "in hospital." Americans say "in the hospital." I was tempted to read the other books, because yes, the plot was intriguing. But the errors were annoying and the character development was lacking. There are too many other books I would rather read.

Cruise Ship Mysteries Steve Higgs is a wonderful and crazy writer! He can come up with some of the best stories ever! I have to say that reading these mysteries was a thrill. I've always wanted to take a trip on a cruise ship but haven't had an opportunity to do so yet. Fun and clever. The stories move along nicely and keep you interested. Not as predictable as you may expect. Nice twists and turns, lots of fun and imagination. My only dread is it seems Mr Higgs gets a kick out of his character “peeing” . In one way or another someone’s always either almost peeing their pants, needs to pee, or some such focus on pee. My guess is it’s his way of trying to make the characters more human and relatable. After awhile, it just reads more like incontinence. No matter, Fun and clever. A fantastic read First, this is not one of those sets of books where the author has written one book then chopped it into a number of books and called it a series. Each of these is a stand alone, but you'll really want to begin at the beginning. Thoroughly enjoyable from page one, these mysteries will challenge you if you enjoy trying to figure out who dunnit, or will just provide you with hours of fun reading. This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading. I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and this is my honest review. This is a brilliant read.
