Well, let's see. This had semi-poor writing. The blurb was completely misleading. She wasn't "raging" over her cancelled wedding and the pregnancy was at the very end. She wasn't engaged anymore when she hooked up with the dad and her fiance broke up with her because (view spoiler)[he was gay. (hide spoiler)] So, no, I didn't see anything forbidden. Also big huge RED FLAG ALERT! ☠ The hero completely and in all ways touched the heroine without her consent. One: he hadn't said a word to her how he felt about her and he had no idea how she felt about him and Two: SHE WAS ASLEEP!!! Licking her nipple, putting his fingers inside her (even if she did orgasm in her sleep) is absolutely wrong. No, just no. ☠ Plus, he never told her he did it. Never apologized. I can't recall if he even said it was wrong of him to do it. Other things to bothered me: ✘ The writing went from sexy to just bland in the book. ✘ The first sex scene was descriptive and sexy then every other one after that was closed door. ✘ The author actually used "twat" to describe the vagina. Come on, that is not sexy at all. ✘ The "extra epilogue" on her website went totally 180 and had anal happening. ✘ It was like two different authors wrote this book. ✘ The characters felt immature. The hero was 45 and the heroine 25. ✘ No clear indication if the h slept with the fiance. Kinda hinted but then kinda said they didn't. It was never clear. ✘ Characters were one dimensional and pretty boring ✘ Plus hero looked like a tool wanting to get the engagement ring back. I get that it was a family heirloom but it just came across as douchey. The whole story was eye roll worthy, the internal dialog cringe worthy, the hero's actions were this side of illegal and the writing was bland with no heart. Pass on this author.

It's one thing to have the age difference and taboo aspects of the relationship between an older man and his son's ex-fiance. It's another thing for the H to sexually molest the h when she is sleeping, even if her body did respond. Her unconscious response does not equal consent and I lost all respect for the H when he could not control his desires in that moment. Oh and for God's sake the woman deserved a new ring! Otherwise this book is ok, and likely would have received three stars from me. First, the beginning was borderline offensive with the stereotypes. The fiancee, Mary (Marky? Really? How old is this guy?) comes out to her and she should have known because he is specific in his compliments on her outfits but not her. And because he buys high end facial products. “Honestly Marky? I’m not saying any of this to hurt you – I’m upset with myself maybe more than you. I should have asked you about why you’re so physically distant or how in the world you came to care so much about face creams and under-eye serums. As much I admire Marky’s gorgeous looks and perfect skin, the man has a more complicated beauty regimen than most women. I’ve seen him drop hundreds of dollars on creams, masks, colognes, and hair products. His wardrobe is meticulous and full of perfectly cut blazers, bright polos, and Italian loafers. He loves fashion magazines and is always suggesting different outfit ideas for me. I’d always assumed his interest was just because he likes looking good, and that’s a positive, right? I could be dating a guy who wears sweats everyday and smells like a locker room. So she goes to stay at her family cabin that she has been to many times before in her youth, but never learned how to start a fire. Storm rolls in and she starts a fire. With lighter fluid. And old newspaper. And, surprise! the fire gets out of control. So she goes to get a pot of water, not a fire extinguisher, to pour on the fire. But now the fire is so big that she is hot. So she takes off all her clothes and is down to her underwear, trying to put out the fire. Our heroine is sleepy because fighting fires in your underwear and being slightly shocky are tiring, so the hero leads her upstairs where he then molests her in her sleep. I'm going to stop here, but you get the idea.

Having enjoyed Blackmailing My Dad's Best Friend by the same author, I decided to read this one next but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. - Dubious consent - The leads had no chemistry - Angry Alpha Male trope ugh - Overly far-fetched and contrived plot (not buying the whole ring thing) Overall, the story felt dull and listless while also bordering on creepy. A little slow Not bad, a little bit slow in some places, but still a decent read. A girl and her future father-in-law lusting after each other. The end seems a bit rushed and the awkwardness of telling their families were glossed over.

First and foremost, I read this because I'm looking for something different to read. The premise of this one is a bit on the unusual side but I still decided to jump into it. This is actually not taboo, on my opinion. It reads as a whirlwind romance with an age gap trope/theme thrown into it. I love the chemistry between Matt and Cora. It was really great.❤ Some too convenient things happened along the way. This was such a fun and flirty read. The romance between both Matt and Cora was fiery and sweet. A perfect balance. I thought Cora handled the whole Marky thing with a little too much calm. I on the other hand wouldn’t have been as restrained. To each their own. But the story was great and I adored the characters. 5 Stars!

DNF at 79% Honestly, I'm so disappointed with this book, that I can't even express it with words. As a person who loves Taboo books, this was looking really exciting, but with every page, my frustration grew up. There were so many wrong things with this book. Like how can a person not know his SO is homosexual, even if they lived together so many years? The characters were one of the most boring ones, I've ever read, and the writing was just as lame. There is a weird sex scene where consent is not given, Cora is literally asleep... it is so out of character for Matt. There is nothing that indicates that he would be ok with taking advantage of a woman while she’s asleep. Even a few pages after the scene he says he can’t take advantage of her... well it’s kinda too late for that. It was so weird and unnecessary. 3. Their relationship seemed too quick, not enough actual dialogue between the two to make it believable... it’s just rough. Regardless all of this, there aren’t any typos or glaring grammatical issues and it is a very quick read. So while I didn’t think it was amazing, it definitely wasn’t out right terrible either. It just was not super flushed out and was not critiqued enough during editing.

Matt arrives right on time his initial goal being there was for his family heirloom ring but when he sees Cora in nothing but undergarments he’s already putting the fire out. He yells at her and soon she feels faint due to the toxins. He sleeps with her for comfort and that comfort soon turns into him giving her an orgasm. They both can’t leave during the storm and they have food and water so they stay together and during that time they get really close to each other. Finally they give in to there desires and make love. Their banter is the best. The robe scene was funny. Eventually their fling comes to an end and they both leave and she’s heartbroken. Two weeks later she finds the ring at home and returns it to him but when she goes to try to fit it in the mailbox on the door he opens it and she’s dumbfounded and gives the envelope. Turns out he’s a mess too. He needed time to think and process his feelings for her. He tells her that he loves her and she returns those feelings and also tells him she’s preggers and he’s ecstatic for another child. 2 years later he asks her to marry him and they have another on the way. In high school we crossed the line from friendship to dating and talk of marriage. Long story short I, he came home from Atlanta to actually propose. He was late for our date so I met him in town. We sat in his car and h was miserable. My thoughts were he had met someone in Atlanta and fell for HER. was right up to the Her.... It was a HIM. Like Cora I saw the signs, hesitancy with being intimate, etc., and I guess I knew in my heart he was gay. I knew him better than most anybody did. And our story stopped there. No engagement party..... No proposal....no ring....no happy ever after. And I blamed myself. I too am curvy and J didn't care. He did love me.....as a friend loves a friend. I took responsibility for his preference and carried it way too long. This author wrote, after Cora's encounter with Marky after the engagement party, that Cora knew this was not on her. Marky's choices had nothing to do with her. She had enough confidence to go on.....I did not. There wasn't a handsome Father in law to pick up my pieces and put me back together again. Thank you S.E. Cora tries her best to hold it together but keeps getting distracted by the handsome, virile Matt as she worries that something has happened to him and ponders his avoidance of her romantic advances. She doesn’t have to wait long for the reason, which blows up her plans for the perfect life with a rich, handsome husband. I found the time spent on her fears and pacing rather tedious. Just as Cora is drawn to Matt’s handsome face and ripped body, he is drawn to her beauty and voluptuous body, although guiltily. When Matt learns that the engagement is off, he tries to contact Cora for three days before he learns she is staying at her families cabin for time to deal with the broken engagement and to dry her tears. Matt uses the ruse that he is concerned that Cora might throw away the family heirloom engagement ring that Marky gave her and heads off to the cabin to see Cora. You can guess where the storyline heads, but it is at this juncture that the books moves into 5 star romance and sexual encounters. By the epilogue, I am madly in love with the main characters and their older man/younger woman romance find their HEA.

The characters are complex and authentic with qualities and traits that blend and flow, adding depth, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes come alive wonderfully with such abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Law, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

So much more than what I expected! I was pleasantly surprised at how deep and emotional this book was. Okay, so from the title and the blurb, I thought this was going to be some salacious and deviant story, and I was prepared for the worst. It started off sweet with Cora and Hadley, who are really hard not to like, and then there's Matt, who is the fiance's dad, and he was pretty perfect too. The side characters helped to build a sweet cast that made the story seem like it could be happening in Anytown, right now. I was not a fan of Markey, lol, his name alone was a turn-off, but seeing as how Cora was hooked on him, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. The story built this emotional tension, you could feel a wave of something heart wrenching is coming, but the momentum had me turning pages and reading it right through to the end. I couldn't put it down! By the time the plot point turns us and the story switches to Cora and how she deals with things, I was ready for Matt to make his move, and it was spectacular! I think the buildup to the title was perfect, and I loved this story. I highly recommend this story!

Matt uses the excuse of the heirloom engagement ring as a way to go see Cora. When he gets there it just in time to save her from a small fire. Not long after he gets there sparks fly between them and they give into each other but Matt is afraid of what others will think and won't think of continuing things with her. Can Cora move on from her time with Matt? Will Matt see that they are perfect together? This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I shocked myself by actually finishing this book!! We have Cora here that is a “curvy girl”, she is engaged to Marky (really???) but he finally admits he is gay after their engagement party and they break up. Now we have Markys dad Matt who has had a secret crush on Cora. He shows up at her family’s cabin to retrieve his family engagement ring just in time to put out a fire that Cora accidentally started. She is so upset he puts her to bed and here is where I was appalled..... he is watching her I shocked myself by actually finishing this book!! I just couldn’t get that out of my head!! The next day she wakes up feeling funny (hmmm wonder why) and then the affair starts, they leave the cabin separately and go on about their lives for a few weeks. She finds the ring, goes to take it to him and he confesses his undying love for her and whoops she is pretty sure she is pregnant!! The ending is so rushed and I just couldn’t get past him violating her while she slept, whether she would have consented when she was a wake or not.... I’m sorry it bugged me

She was his secret fantasy and little did he know he was hers. Very cute and tender moments. An enlightened storyline of life choices.

The tension between them is thick and they both feel attracted to each other. This book was pretty steamy and I actually liked it for the most part. My only real issue was the fact that Matt decided to touch Cora while she was asleep, which was totally inappropriate and not ok. Besides that, it was a good forbidden romance. I liked how everything turned out and it wasn't solely based on the s*x. But I did have a real issue with Matt being with Cora while she was unconscious.
