Love the good the bad and the ugly. I was unexpectedly drawn into a time when life was simpler but harder. Love is a timeless binding we all need. Relationships are often complicated but never more so than when abuse is involved.

Finally! The psychopath gets his due BEFORE obtaining his desire! Yay, Karma! But there is still danger ahead! I appreciated that twist in the path of this story! Some authors seem to enjoy making their heroes & heroines suffer as much as possible, but Ms. Holmes showed mercy on hers! A little anyway, for Rebaa's life's journey is far from easy! I enjoyed this story much more than I had expected to. Read it & see if perhaps you do too! Finally! The psychopath gets his due BEFORE obtaining his desire! Yay, Karma! Strong Woman Books about strong women are not always easy to find. This story in another time and place kept my interest right to the end like “Clan of the Cave Bear! I am glad there is a series as I did not want it to be over!

Loved it! I absolutely loved this book. The relationships between the characters were just beautiful, and the strength of Rebaa was palpable. I wish there were better descriptions of the different races, but it doesn’t affect the story.

While the base plot seems carved from stone out of wherever all prehistoric fiction plots lurk being of the familiar man hunts women ilk, it has enough of a twist augmented by good writing that elevates it a step higher than its peers. First off, it really is stone and sorcery. Not all prehistoric fiction stories are. It took a while to seep in for me, but the various peoples described herein seem to be prehistoric variants of fantasy races. Our protagonists people, the people of the forest, are nick named driads by other tribes and have magic and nature reverence that feels at home with a fey people. The thalls? Harder to place, but they seem elevated in terms of strength and endurance, so maybe orcs or trolls? In any event, that and the lingering spiritual pseudo-magic was very engaging to the long time fantasy fan in me. Second, there are brief bursts of strong prose along side some good telling prose. I, for one, like that a lot. And then there is the multi-facetet struggle: our protagonist faces many problems and challenges beyond just her pursuer. Over all it was an enjoyable fast read that felt like the prologue to a larger work, which, being that this is book 1 of 5 or so, seems the case.

Absolutely amazing. This entire series is one that will forever stay close to my heart and will soon be on my bookshelf to proudly display (usually read digital then buy physical copies of my favorite books/series) I'm literally counting down the time till the next two books come out. This book does a good job at creating a base for the next books in the series and while it's not absolutely necessary to read this book first, you really get a feel of the world as a whole and sort of a background on characters that will be introduced. You will also gain certain feelings for different characters and their struggles which make things a little more important when things or people are mentioned in the next books. I do wish, however, that there was more to hear about Rebba. I hope the author would consider spinoffs in the future of some of these characters and their backgrounds and their POV. If your even thinking of possibly buying or reading this book on kindle unlimited, please do!!! You won't regret it! This author is a self publisher, so if possible try to support the author and buy the books new.

After a too descriptive intro it turned into a gripping story The beginning almost put me off reading further with its glut of superlatives and over use of adjectives. But it turned into quite a gripping story with lots of dire twists and turns. Looking forward to hearing about Juaan's story now as Rebaa did so much to ensure he lived. Looking forward to seeing what the importance of his power is & why the Forbidden are so key. Hope his story continues. It would be a shame for it to fizzle now. Survival The book had a slow start. It’s listed as a romance. It’s not in a traditional sense. Juaan said he would never leave her but he appeared a few times then nothing. It’s really a sad tale of determination and struggle with little reprieve. Strong female characters and greed of men for more power. Family betrayal every where. Little glimmer of hope . Each time she prevails destruction follows.

An engaging tale. The setting is great and intriguing and the plot lines are ones that have so much potential. The book, however, falls short on characterisations. The baddies all "swagger" and "are angry" at past slights. There's also a 'huge' jump in time at the end that startling. Having followed Reba through her tortuous journey, I would have loved to have known more about her life among her own people. An engaging tale. Forbidden, a child without hope Because a woman was stolen from a tribe who were considered Dryads by a tribe considered Cro. The chief and his Dread mate's child was considered forbidden as two different tribes, people mixed in the child. The journey of his mother, the ones she met or encountered on her way back to her tribe after her mates death became friends or enemies. I enjoyed reading this book it reminded me of The Clan of The Cave Bears. Forbidden, a child without hope Because a woman was stolen from a tribe who were considered Dryads by a tribe considered Cro. Lose yourself in a different world... This is an entancing story. I picked it up because I saw it was free on Facebook. Once I began I could not put it down. The author draws you in and holds you with her detailed descriptions. The story line holds your attention and keeps you wanting more. I had a hard time putting it down to do daily tasks. Completed the book with 24 hours. It's that good. Lose yourself in a different world... This is an entancing story. I picked it up because I saw it was free on Facebook. A very enjoyable book, the start of a new series. Well written, with a story line that carries you along with the various people you encounter. I just wish a bit more time was spent describing the various tribes explaining their differences or similarities. Other than that, I must say I am already on book two and have recently downloaded the Novella in the series, Forbidden Son.

5 Stars I've always like the books about prehistoric tribes trying to survive in an untamed world. Rebaa not only loses her mate but her entire tribe. She now flees from a cruel chief trying to take her captive. 5 Stars I've always like the books about prehistoric tribes trying to survive in an untamed world.
