I received a copy of the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Oestara Publishing LLC held a contest to create this anthology of Pagan poems. The book contains Free Verse and Traditional Poetic Forms. As this is not my normal read, I am always looking for something new and I have to say that the thought of Pagan Poetry sparked my interest since I haven't actually ever read poetry that was label as just Pagan. The book shows the winners of the contest, their poem, what poetic form it was, and the judges thoughts. Then there are random poems from other entries. I have to say some of the poems were not what I expected. I seemed to enjoy the Free Verse random poems way more than the actual winner poems. I gave a 2 star rating because I am torn. There were a few that I like and some that I couldn't understand what was going on, and some where I don't even know how they fit the guidelines. I found it to be a so so read. The ones that were good were good and the ones that were not...well were not.

This was a Goodreads.com give away. The collection was comprised of entries to a contest for people to write what could be described as modern day Pagan Poetry. Some of the entries were from practitioners of such religions and others just used pagan themes in poems. Definitions of different types of poetry are explored and a biographical sketch of the judges is given. Then the judges shared why they voted for the winning poems in the first section. Following that are other entries. “The Trouble This was a Goodreads.com give away. Two essays focus mainly on poetry and one contains what could be described as Pagan Apologetics.

Good reads win: I am not a big poetry reader. But I found myself somewhat enthralled with the poetry from this book. The main poem's that got my attention were the free style.
