A short version of how Robinson Crusoe landed on an island and survived on that island for 35 years.

Long book but interesting. I listened to it on CD and liked the reader. For my own memory, here's a summary of the book: Basically, Robinson gets ship wrecked and is stranded on an island. He is fortunate enough to be able to get things off of the ship (it wrecked on land) that would be useful to him before the ship is washed back to sea. Robinson creates a shelter (the castle) for himself and at first uses his guns to kill his food but comes to realize that his powder will eventually run out so Long book but interesting. He is fortunate enough to be able to get things off of the ship (it wrecked on land) that would be useful to him before the ship is washed back to sea. Robinson creates a shelter (the castle) for himself and at first uses his guns to kill his food but comes to realize that his powder will eventually run out so he builds a fence and keeps goats that he's caught in there. This provides unlimited goats meat, milk, cheese, butter etc for him. He continues to build other shelters on different parts of the island. He then finds that other "savages" have come to his island. Robinson observes the savages and realizes that they are canibals that eat their prisoners of war. Robinson ends up saving one of the savages that is about to be eaten. He calls this savage Friday. It's been 25 years since he's been on this island and just as long since he's spoken to another person so he's thrilled to have Friday's company. Robinson teaches Friday how to speak English and together they continue to make the island better/easier to live off. More savages come with more prisoners of war to eat and both Friday and Robinson together save the prisoners. Eventually they are able to get off of the island and make it back home. It's been 30 or so years since he's been home so most of his friends/family are dead and he works towards aquiring again the land that he owned before being ship wrecked. I really like how this book showed how Robinson's thoughts turned from "Why has God cursed me to this island?" to "God has really blessed me with a lot"

Robinson Crusoe is just a normal sailor. He was sailing one day and the ship that he was sailing on got shipwrecked. On his way getting down, he saved some bibles and other stuff that was savable. He starts a new life on an island. He thinks that it is better living on an island because he doesn’t have to pay for anything. He stays there more than 24 years without seeing a human face. He had to hunt goats etc to eat. One day he finds he finds an Indian man, who couldn’t speak English. He named Robinson Crusoe is just a normal sailor. All Robinson has to do is to go back to England. WILL ROBINSON BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO ENGLAND?

Robinson Crusoe provides readers with the experience of learning about a man who was shipwrecked and had to learn how to live on his own for a long time. I find this book to be a great starter chapter book for fluent readers because the chapters are short, and the pictures help portray the story in an effective manner. However, I do not this this book would be appropriate for younger children because of the violence.

This book is about survival. Robinson's ship crashed and the people with him got out on rafts made of wood, but he swam to a desert island where he stayed for thirty-five years before he was found.
